Accessibility

SafeAlert is built for people aged 40 and over, so being easy to read is not a finishing touch here. It is the whole point.

What we have done

• Larger text by default. Our normal size is bigger than most websites use.
• A text size control. Use the A buttons at the top of every page to make everything larger. Your choice is remembered.
• Strong contrast. Body text meets the WCAG 2.2 AAA contrast level.
• Large buttons. Everything you can tap is at least 56 pixels tall.
• Never colour alone. Risk levels always carry a word and a symbol as well as a colour.
• Full keyboard use. Everything works without a mouse, with a clear outline showing where you are.
• Screen reader support. Proper headings, labels and live announcements when results appear.
• Zoom is never blocked. You can pinch to zoom to 500% on a phone.
• Reduced motion. If your device asks for less movement, animations switch off.
• Dark mode. If your device is set to dark, the site follows.

Plain English

We write short sentences and avoid jargon. We do not use words like “credential harvesting” or “social engineering vector” when “they are trying to get your password” says the same thing.

Standard we aim for

We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA throughout, and level AAA for text contrast. If you find something that falls short, we want to know.
