The short version

Nothing that tracks you runs until you say yes.
Saying no is exactly as easy as saying yes, and costs you nothing.
You can change your mind at any time, at the bottom of any page.

What a cookie is

A small file a website stores on your device. Some are needed for the site to work at all. Others are used to count visits or to measure whether an advert worked.

What we use

Essential — always on

These cannot be switched off, because the site would not work without them.

Help us improve — only if you agree

Google Analytics. Counts visits and shows which guides people find useful, so we know what to write next. We do not see who you are, and your IP address is shortened before it is stored.

Advertising — only if you agree

Meta (Facebook) Pixel and the LinkedIn Insight Tag. These tell us whether someone who saw one of our adverts went on to use SafeAlert.

We use this for one reason: we have a small advertising budget, and knowing which adverts work stops us wasting it on the ones that do not. If you say no, our adverts still run — we just cannot tell whether they worked.

If you agree to advertising cookies, some information about your visit is shared with Meta and LinkedIn. Any personal detail, such as your email address, is scrambled first using a one-way code, so they cannot read it.

Changing your mind

Scroll to the bottom of any page and choose Change cookie settings. The banner will come back and you can decide again. You can also delete cookies in your browser settings at any time.

Sell your details to anyone
Load anything that tracks you before you agree
Make refusing harder than agreeing
Store the text of any message you check
